This Year's Writing Project.

I am in no way, a prolific writer. Though I have five books published, one in edit, three unfinished, and a couple that will never see the light of a publishing day, it is not indicative that I accomplish much each day. Often it is fits and spurts - an aimless exercise that in the end, produces through as much fluke as skill, a manuscript. It's all often done in between a number of other loves (not work though, that's a need that must be endured) which includes puttering on my my small, vanity urban farm in the spring and summer, camping and backpacking, hiking and kayaking, and cycling. As you can see, it doesn't leave me much time to just write.

This year I've decided to be a bit more modest and a bit more focused with a single writing project - my second contemporary fantasy, A Child at Play in the Trees. So far I feel happy with the progress, and I'll read my opening scene tonight to a group of fellow artists over a glass of wine. I will also endeavor to plug away at book three of my military scifi series, Titan Rising, which I made good progress on during NaNoWriMo, but only if I have time. maybe I'll finish it during another NaNoWriMo bout in November.

All this to say, since my editor is thoroughly engaged in editing my third military scifi adventure, The Scarlet Bastards - The Bone Witch, I see little point in piling more on her inbox and will instead, have a leisurely year of writing as well as a a marketing blitz. More on that next time.
