I enjoy writing hard science fiction focusing as much on the technology as I do on the human characters in those stories. In the Gliesiun Chronicles, the technology plays a centrepiece role as humanity come to grips with its first contact with the Gliesiuns. In the Scarlet Bastards, technology takes a back seat to the often primitive conditions of the UN's first colony - the convenient receptacle for the millions of refugees from a devastating nuclear war of the past. My first foray into fantasy writing is an urban fantasy that explores the idea that humans weren't the only ones to leave the old country for a fresh start in the new world.
